Mental
Notes Magazine is a consumer publication providing information
on a broad range of mental health issues affecting all Canadians.
Canada’s first and only national magazine servicing family physicians, general
practioners, and the general public. Our waiting room copy will offer extensive
free-to-the-public information and education on mental health concerns in
all phases of the life cycle and educate Canadians on diseases and disorders,
medications, and treatments.
Each of us, within our lifetime, will experience emotional or mental distress.
Treatment for an emotional crisis is as necessary as any other intervention
in a medical emergency. Mental health impacts the way we live, love and
work. Mental Notes Magazine will promote the importance
of mental health care as part of ones’ personal Health Care Program addressing
mental health, ill-health, and illness. Emotional and mental disturbances
have an economic impact, not only on the individual and his/her family,
but also on the health care system, the workplace, and the entire social
system.
The significant role of mental health care in maintaining our country’s
health and well-being must be acknowledged. Recognizing symptoms, early
diagnosis, and treatment defends against further complications. Ignored
emotional and mental disturbances lead to increased physician visits, hospitalizations,
and short and long-term disability. Stigma and ignorance are the main obstacles
to better mental health.
